OILERS FACE QUAD CITY IN HOME OPENER

Despite the loss, the Oilers see a crowd of 7674 in an exciting game.

Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers Football, proud member of the IFL, fell 68-42 to the Quad City Steamwheelers in their first-ever home game in franchise history. 

Quad City found the first 13 points of the game with two touchdown passes from E.J. Hilliard, but it was the Oilers who blocked the extra point attempt and returned it for two points making the game 13-2 Steamwheelers with 14:20 left in the second quarter. Jeremy Reynolds for Tulsa would follow up with a 43-yard field goal with 11:46 left in the second to make it 13-5 Quad City. Hilliard, for Quad City, followed up with a one-yard score of his own, making the game 20-5 with 7:56 left in the half. Montero Dubose would score his first touchdown for Tulsa with a 25-yard touchdown reception with 6:47 left in the second quarter. Reynolds would add two more field goals for Tulsa, and Joshua Crockett would pick up a touchdown himself after scores were traded to end the half at a score of  40-21 Quad City.

Tulsa and Quad City would trade touchdowns to start the second half, the first coming from Harrington of Quad City with a 10-yard rush, followed by Tulsa's Bobby Froehlich with a one-yard touchdown run to make it 47-27 with 10:02 left in the third quarter. Carrigan for the Steamwheelers would respond with a 17-yard touchdown catch to crank the score up to 54-27. Reynolds would hit a 41-yard field goal with 4:28 left in the third quarter to make it 54-30 Quad City. 

Jackson for the Steamwheelers would return an interception for a touchdown for 49 yards to make the score 60-30 to open the scoring in the fourth with 14:30 left in the game. Tulsa's Tyler Jones would score his first touchdown of the season via a 7-yard touchdown reception in the back right corner of the end zone to bring the score line to 61-36.  Tulsa went back-to-back on scoring drives, with another touchdown reception by Crockett to make it 61-42. Quad City added one more touchdown to end the game making the final score 68-42 Quad City. 

Tulsa will travel on the road to face the Iowa Barnstormers on April 22 at 7:05 p.m. Tulsa's next home game will be April 29 against the Arizona Rattlers, kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
