TULSA FALLS IN SIOUX FALLS

Oilers Football comes up short against the Storm.

Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers Football, proud member of the IFL, fall to 1-5 on the inaugural campaign after a 52-35 loss in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

The Storm began the game with a touchdown on the opening drive of the first quarter with a 16-yard reception by Donnie Corley Jr., with 13:16 left in the opening frame, Sioux Falls would miss the extra point. Tulsa would strike back on their first drive via a 16-yard touchdown grab with one hand by Joshua Crockett to make the game 7-6 Oilers with 11:35 left in the first. Sioux Falls responded with back-to-back touchdown receptions from Corley, once at 8:29 left in the opening quarter, and followed with the second at 2:52 remaining, giving the Storm a 20-7 edge. 

The second quarter would open with an Oilers' touchdown via a 10-yard completion to Jo-El Shaw for his first score of the game with 14:18 left in the quarter to make it 20-14 Storm. Tulsa recorded their first defensive touchdown of the season on the following drive by forcing the quarterback Lorenzo Brown Jr. to fumble in the end zone, ultimately picked up by Kelvin Jenkins to give Tulsa the lead 21-20 with 12:10 left in the half. The Storm would score the next 20 points to finalize the half at a score of 40-21. 

Neither team would score points in the third quarter, as Tulsa would find the first touchdown in the second half with 11:00 left in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard catch by Shaw for his second touchdown of the game, making it 40-27 Storm. Sioux Falls running back Xavier Jackson recorded back-to-back rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to bury the game at a score of 52-27, Sioux Falls. Tulsa would score the final touchdown of the game with 0:02 left in the fourth via a two-yard catch by Alexis Rosario, Oilers' wide receiver Montero Dubose converted the two-point try to finalize the game's score at 52-35 Storm. 

Tulsa's next home game will be Saturday, May 13, against the Frisco Fighters. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
