Box Score Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers Football, proud member of the IFL, dropped their home game by a final of 35-34 to the Sioux Falls Storm in a contest that came down to the final play.
Sioux Falls opened the game's scoring by grabbing the first 13 points, beginning with a Xavier Jackson 1-yard rushing score and followed up again by a Jackson 3-yard rushing touchdown to make it 13-0 with 8:05 left in the first quarter. Tulsa responded with a 1-yard QB rushing score by Andre Sale to cut the lead down to 13-7 with 3:00 left in the opening frame.
The Oilers took their first lead after a 7-yard receiving touchdown by Joshua Crockett to make the game 14-13 Tulsa with 14:14 left in the second. Draysean Hudson for Sioux Falls regained the lead for the Storm on a 19-yard catch and score to bring the game to 21-14 Sioux Falls. Sale recorded his second 1-yard rushing score of the game to help Tulsa bring the deficit to just one point, 21-20 Storm, a missed extra point kept the game where it was at with 0:32 remaining in the half.
Byron Edwards for the Storm opened the second half with a pick-six for the Sioux Falls defense giving them a 27-20 lead with 12:45 left in the third. Tulsa made it interesting again on a Dalton James 1-yard rushing score to the right side to make the game 27-27 with 10:10 left in the third quarter. Jackson responded with a 2-yard rushing touchdown into the end zone to help the Storm push out to a 35-27 lead with 2:19 remaining in the third frame.
The fourth quarter started with a James 5-yard touchdown run with 7:23 left in the game to bring the Sioux Falls lead down to just one point, 35-34. Tulsa forced the Storm into a fourth down scenario with 0:06 left and forced an incompletion with 0:02 left in the game, but a roughing of the passer penalty ended the success and the game with a final of 35-34 Storm.
Tulsa's next game is on the road against the Massachusetts Pirates at 6:05 p.m. CT on June 24.
