Joshua Crockett picked up his first touchdown of the game on a 4-yard reception into the end zone to open the second quarter scoring with 9:14 left in the half, a missed extra point kept the score 21-20 Mass. The Pirates would grab a 29-20 lead before the Oilers responded with 0:14 seconds left in the second by picking up a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Tre Harvey on a jet sweep to the right side to make it 29-27 Pirates. Mass kicker Josh Gable hit a 28-yard field goal with no time remaining in the half to end two quarters at a score of 32-27 Pirates. FOCUS AHEAD This will be Tulsa's final regular season trip out west as they face the Strike Force. Tulsa gained two new faces to the organization in the likes of quarterback Andre Sale and defensive lineman Henry Kellogg. Sale, joins the Oilers, coming from the west where he spent time in Duke City with the Gladiators. The former Gladiator entered one game with Duke City, back on April 8 against the Oilers where he threw for 15 yards after entering late in the game. Prior to his pro career, the new Tulsa QB played college football at Tennessee Tech, compiling 1,520 passing yards and eight touchdowns while having a 58.9% completion percentage. Sale would finish one season with the Golden Eagles and proceeded to become a walk-on transfer at Louisiana State University where he spent time as the backup. Kellogg, comes from the College of DuPage where he played his college football. The South Elgin, Illinois native has played in the IFL with the Tucson Sugar Skulls as well as in Fan Controlled Football prior to his arrival in Tulsa. Tulsa has only one more road game after this weekend, that will take place on June 24 against the Massachusetts Pirates at 6:05 p.m. CT. HOW TO "STRIKE DOWN" SAN DIEGO The Strike Force are currently at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 3-6 record. Their troubles have come at home more so than on the as they are 1-3 inside of Pechanga Arena. San Diego does most of their damage through the air, having a 27/90 rush/pass first down pickup ratio along with 83.6% of their yards coming through the passing game, Tulsa will need to dial in on stopping Nate Davis and this offense. Davis is impressive and Tulsa has faced him once before already. Scoring first to set the pace as well as winning the turnover margin for the first time this season could be a huge combo contributor to victory in California. The Oilers need to ride on the momentum of a resurging Josh Crockett as well as a healthy Jo-El Shaw to maintain offensive pressure against the Strike Force.
Tulsa heads to San Diego to face the Strike Force on Sunday, June 4. Kickoff is set for 5:05 p.m. CT. Tulsa's next home game is on June 10, as they face the Iowa Barnstormers at 7:05 p.m.
